Pervaiz Elahi
An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad sent former Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi on a 14-day judicial remand on Friday.

Elahi was presented in Judge Abu Alhasnaat Zulaqurnain’s court after completion of a two-day physical remand early on Friday morning. He was brought to court in an armoured vehicle.

The prosecution asked for a 10-day extension in the physical remand which was rejected by the court.

Elahi’s lawyer Babar Awan argued for the former CM to be discharged from the case. He said that Elahi had been implicated in the case out of nowhere and there was no evidence relating to terrorism.

The politician was arrested on Tuesday, soon after a court ordered his release. PTI had described the arrest as an ‘abduction’ in violation of court orders.

IHC Judge Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri had set aside his arrest under Section 3 of the Maintainance of Public Order.
