Asif Ali Zardari
Former president and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday urged the caretaker government to complete the initiatives taken under the Special Investment Facilitation Council.

“The country should be put on the path of development by completing these projects,” he said in a statement issued by PPP’s account on X.

“The country is currently going through an economic crisis. We all should worry about the economy first instead of politics,” the former president added.

Zardari defended the Election Commission of Pakistan as he said that fresh delimitation has become a mandatory requirement after the new census was notified.

He went on to add that the ECP will hold elections according to the Constitution. In this regard, he expressed confidence in ECP Chief Sikandar Sultan Rana and all the members of the commission.

In the statement, the former president said that the electoral body is bound to carry out the delimitation after notification of census results.

His statement came a day after party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the PPP believed elections should take place within 90 days. The PDM and ECP believed elections should take place after the delimitation exercise was concluded, he added.

The former foreign minister also took notice of the alleged double policy in the country, saying that the ECP has no right to shift officers until it announces the election schedule. Bilawal reminded the ECP that the rules were the same for every province of the country.
